The permit we pulled allowed for the fire marshall to watch us as we shot on the side of the road, non-moving vehicles that is. Nothing in it stated we could fly up the highway at 100mph on the wrong side of the road with the doors open. Thank God the fire marshall was cool, he actually let us get away with a lot on that job. I mean, you always hear that as a director, “he’s only got an hour.” Sure. We literally partied all day during this video, so by the time he got on set, everyone was already on a level. He quickly got on his level, to catch up, we went upstairs, played this by ear, and just let the camera roll. He never met any of these girls and just said whatever came to mind. Well, we were kind of in a rush, looking for a big house to throw a party in and, a close family friend knew his mother. She mentioned that Sean would probably be cool enough to let us use the house, and sure enough he was. He stayed to himself most of the shoot, wasn’t there for the rest of the shoot, and when he actually was around, he decided to party along with us. Not gonna tell the guy who’s letting us use his house, he can’t be in the video. And we really were partying this whole video so…nobody cared or even thought about who was in the video, it didn’t matter. Everything about it was real and really happened. Moving around this pool room was difficult. Not too much to say here. <strong>Jay 305</strong>’s first video ever, for <em><strong>“Youzza Flip.”</strong></em> You could tell he was a little nervous, just a little. It’s a lot to comprehend, especially on your first video. The other guys were great here, and I think that got Jay further into his zone for the other days we shot. He opened up more and just started to ease into the process. The homeless woman that walked by was not planned or staged, contrary to popular belief. This whole shot was a little testy. Right before we started, the guys had seen a guy from some gang that they didn’t fuck with, and he got in his car and kept driving by, saying he had a gun or something. Not really but, she definitely took a risk getting up on this roof and standing so close to the edge of it. The thing that’s great about Jhene is, she has great focus, and she shows it here. We can go from joking around to dancing, to getting right back into the zone, to complete the shot…in seconds. Better her than me, standing on the edge of the roof with no protection down below, tilting her head back and closing her eyes ?! Think this was our fourth location of the day. The fourth location that we had never before seen in our lives, and the fourth location of like 7. We shot all day and all night on this <em><strong>“Top Down”</strong></em> video. Literally landed in Miami at 8am, began shooting by 9am. We sort of had an idea of things and shots we wanted to accomplish, then we just ventured thru the city to make sure we got them.
